Because Your Love is Better Than Life

Complete trust is not easy. Because I am human and full of weaknesses, I have to work at it. And it can be as exhausting on my heart and my mind as a long run is on my body.

I trust God but sometimes the tiniest bit of doubt or self-pity can start to grow like an aggressive weed and I start to think, "why Reese" or "what if" all over again. It's amazing how overcoming and overwhelming these thoughts can be.

This week, I ran across Psalm 63 and couldn't get the phrase "better than life" out of my head. Have you thought about just those three words? It's funny how easily we can forget that this is not the end. We're so focused on planning out our lives here, making them perfect, always hoping for more of the best of everything. We grieve when people die, feeling sorry for them if their life was "cut short."

But God promises that his love is better than this life. If you believe this, it will bring you peace despite what "life" brings you. The end of another marathon of doubt. I'm sure there will be many more - I am weak. But He remains by my side the whole time, holding my hand, ready to listen and reassure. What a gift.

Because Your Love is better than life… (Psalm 63:3)

I will not forget your miracles, (Psalm 77:11)
and everything that You are, (Exodus 3:14)
my Lord and Shepherd (Psalm 23:1) who walks with me, (Lev. 26:12)
holding my right hand to help me, (Isaiah 41:13)
reminding me that I can talk with You about anything, (Philippians 4:6)
reassuring me that You have a loving plan for me, (Jeremiah 29:11)
and encouraging me to put my trust in You, (Proverbs 3:5), the One who can do anything. (Luke 1:37)

If I truly trust You, I will thank You for every bit of my life (Ephesians 5:20) ... regardless of the circumstances. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Thank you for reminding me that I do not need to worry about tomorrow, (Matthew 6:34) but instead, be calm and wait patiently for You, (Psalms 37:7)
because You have told me You are God (Psalm 46:10) and You are here. (Ezekiel 48:35)

Your Love gives me strength, courage, (Deuteronomy 31:6), hope (Isaiah 40:31) and joy (1 Thessalonians 5:16) - all of which I pray I can share with others (1 John 4:7) by loving You and loving them (Mark 12:30-31) and cheerfully giving everything I can. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Your Love is a gift of true peace (Isaiah 26:3)
...and it is better than life.

Thank you Mary Beth for posting that. I am always so overwhelmed with doubt and insecurities of this world. I dislike this life and cant wait for God to take me up and away from here. This helps me just that much to keep trudging the storm while i am here for whatever reasons God has knowing that what he has is worth the wait and all this pain. God i hope so.
