Weekend Update

R: Mommy, you know Happy from the seven dwarfs? He has a big bottom. But it's fine, he likes it.
-------------------
We had such a pleasant weekend - and not just because it was a holiday weekend and the sun was out (although both of those always help). It was just relaxing and so peaceful. I wish I could have three days of bliss every weekend.

On Saturday, Roger and I attended our second adoption agency intro session. It was such a different experience than the first. While our first left me feeling frustrated, poor and with limited options, this intro was just so positive and inspirational. I feel so good about what they shared with us and our options. On our drive home, we both discovered that we had been thinking the same thing about how we wanted to move forward - even though it was a dramatic difference than what we had originally discussed. I know I'm being vague but I'm hesitant to share anything yet as I want to pray on it and reflect for awhile. No immediate decisions but I feel so at peace about it now and I excited to see what our future holds. The hardest thing now is to not get to far ahead of anything and start making "plans," which is my first reaction and something I'm slowly learning to let go of. Planning should be replaced with praying.

We also spent some of the weekend with my aunt, uncle and my cousin's two daughters who were in town from Oregon. Riley had not met her (second/third? once removed? not sure...I'll just call them all cousins) cousins before but she immediately fell in love with Ariana, who is (almost) seven. She became Ariana's little shadow. Sweet Ariana was patient with her and it was fun watching them play.

I also had a lot of one:one time with Riley which I truly just treasure. She is at such a great age and she is so full of life and energy. Sometimes I wish I could slow down time as she is getting older so quickly. Life goes by too quickly sometimes.

Between all that, I was able to squeeze in time to finish all my thank you cards and run twice! I felt pretty productive.

Hope y'all had a nice weekend as well.
I'll leave you with pictures of Ms. Riley hanging out with her sweet, and oh so patient cousin.

I think the dresses were on within the first 10 minutes Ariana and family arrived. Riley was so excited to have someone to dress up with. That's my cousin, Kayla, in the background sitting next to me!

Roger (hand)made them matching coats (in one day!) Isn't he talented?

"I'll do whatever you want to do, Ariana."

Riley getting a pedicure from Ariana and (my aunt) Juanita. She loved, literally, every second of this.
